Irish pipes could be heard along Sofia streets on Friday morning to mark a solemn British navy victory 200 years ago.
The pipe men do not perform on a regular basis, but only gather on special occasions, the British Embassy announced in a press release.
The occasion is being marked throughout Britain as part of the 200th anniversary celebrations of Admiral Lord Nelson's victory over France and Spain at Trafalgar.
The 1805 battle is seen as ending Napoleon's plans to invade Britain and establishing British supremacy at sea. In the battle, a Royal Navy fleet beat a combined French and Spanish fleet, but Nelson was killed by a French marksman.
