Los Angeles Panicks after Accidental Blackout

A sudden blackout in most parts of Los Angeles following an "accidental" cut in the power line by maintenance workers caused panic after a videotape by a purported al Qaeda member threatening attacks on it. The nearly two-hour-long blackout trapped people in elevators and lead to traffic snarls in the city. About two million people were affected by the power surge and outages. The blackout came a day after ABC aired a videotape of a purported al-Qaida member making terrorist threats against Los Angeles and Melbourne, Australia, on the fourth anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
