Israel Ends Gaza Rule

Israel has decided to leave the Gaza Strip without demolishing more than 20 synagogues at evacuated settlements, BBC reported. A meeting of cabinet ministers decided to leave the structures intact, after rabbis argued demolition was forbidden under Jewish ritual law. The cabinet also formally declared an end to military rule in Gaza. This clears the way for the last Israeli troops to leave after 38 years of occupation. Those remaining could be out of Gaza by early Monday.
