Maria Penkova has clinched the title of the national women tennis tournament Intracom Bulgaria 2005.

The young winner, who plays for tennis club Levski, grabbed also the prize of BGN 1,250 (approximately EUR 600) granted by organisers Intracom.

Penkova wins the national tennis title for a second successive year. She is also one of the Bulgarian rackets at the prestigious tennis tournament Fed Cup, together with Magdalena Maleeva and Sesil Karatantcheva.

Maria Penkova was also part of the team that swept the 2005 European club title in France earlier in July.

The Intracom Bulgaria 2005 tournament, with a total purse of BGN 6,000, was held at the Sofia tennis complex Dema.

Levski' Tanya Germanlieva grabbed the second place and the fair play award - worth BGN 300 - was handed down to Biliana Pavlova by Stefano Bodrato, CEO of Intracom Bulgaria.
