Double Olympic champion Vessela Lecheva was appointed director of the newly established State Agency for Youth and Sports.

The agency succeeds the same-function ministry, which was set up for the first time by the previous government.

With a decision of the Cabinet on Thursday, the Agency for Youth and Sports will continue the official policy in the field of sports, social tourism and with reference to youth.

Commenting on her appointment Vessela Lecheva, who is an MP on the ticket of ruling Coalition for Bulgaria, said winter sports will occupy a priority place in her work in view with the Bulgarian candidature for the Olympic Games in Torino.
