Presidential Applauses at Bulgaria-Iceland Qualifier

Some 5,000 fans have gathered at the National Stadium Vassil Levski to see live the qualifier between Bulgaria and Iceland on Wednesday.

Bulgaria visiting President of Iceland accompanied by his counterpart Georgi Parvanov have also applauded the two national teams upon their appearance on the playground.

Bulgaria, trailing in fourth position with eight points in Group 8 in the European Zone and effectively out of the running after their defeat to Sweden, host Iceland in Sofia.

Penalized Hristo Stoitchkov is not allowed to guide the team, because of the red card he saw during Sweden-Bulgaria (September 3) last week.

The home side will aim to salvage some pride with a repeat of the 3-1 victory (one goal by Hristo Yanev, two by Dimitar Berbatov) they achieved in Reykjavik in the first game of the group last September.
