Bulgaria Apologises for Stoitchkov Outburst

Sports | September 7, 2005, Wednesday // 00:00

The Bulgarian Football Union has sent a letter of apology to UEFA over an angry outburst of Hristo Stoitchkov.

The letter refers to his behaviour as "scandalous," and offers sincere apologies.

During last week's Sweden-Bulgaria in Stockholm, Stoitchkov expressed his disagreement with the referee in a straightforward manner that brought him a red card.

The Bulgarian coach then told reporters that UEFA head Lennart Johansson had left the stadium before the end of the game, implying that he knew the final score in advance.

UEFA has filed a disciplinary complaint with FIFA following the statement.
