The National Health Insurance Fund is extremely satisfied with the developemnt of the information system in the fund, Dr. Boiko Penkov, its director, said at a press meeting. The opportunities of software products of already finilized phase 1 and 2 of the system were shown for the first time yesterday. AremisSoft, US corporation listed at Nasdaq, (AREM) was engaged to produce the software. The investment is of about BGN 7 M. The system allows database to be analyzed and used as well as video connection to be established with voice and data transfer in real time between NHIF headquarters and regional offices all around the country. By the end of the year 3500 GPs will have their own PC systems. More than 150 hospitals will be given the chance for such connection at the end of 2002. It is expected that until 2005 each Bulgarian will have electronic card, which will be the key for a personal file where the health status of every patient will be registered.
