The Discovery space shuttle has landed at the Edwards Air Force base in California. Earlier NASA ordered the astronauts aboard Discovery to bypass the first landing opportunity of the day because of stormy weather off the Florida coast. The agency hoped to bring the shuttle down at 1007 BST (0907 GMT) at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This is NASA's first mission since the 2003 Columbia disaster. Columbia broke up on re-entering earth space because of the damage it experienced during lift-off. On August 3 Discovery astronaut Steve Robinson has successfully performed the tile repairs on the shuttle's external surface. He manoeuvred to the shuttle's belly, plucking the filler material that was protruding from the tiles. The repair has been named a "historic space walk."
