Monk Killing Shocks Russia

Russia's Orthodox Church is holding Friday a funeral for a brutally murdered abbot. Archimandrite German's body was found in his cell at the Davidova Pustyn monastery on Tuesday. The corpse showed signs of torture - the hands had been tied with an electric cable and the head had been hit in, Russian media say. The safe in his cell was empty, making robbery a likely motive for the crime. Monastery sources said large donations had been received at the monastery shortly before the murder, Itar-Tass news agency reported, cited by the BBC.
