Dear Editor,
If this young man (Michael Shields) is innocent and the problem is not sorted out quickly it will have a very negative effect on the booming property market in Bulgaria.
Lots of British people are getting very disillusioned with all the problems they have to face when you buy in Bulgaria - the main one being constantly "ripped off" by opportunists who see British people as walking bank accounts.
Incidents like Michael Shields are far more serious and not to be compared - many people have the idea (wrongly I hope) that judicial system in Bulgaria is inefficient and corrupt. I pray they are wrong.
