Bulgaria's striker Martin Petrov expects to complete his long-awaited transfer from Wolfsburg to Atletico Madrid this week.

The transfer will take place after the two clubs reportedly agreed a EUR 9 M fee.

The Bulgarian midfielder believes that he played his last game for the Wolves on Saturday when the German outfit drew 2-2 with Sturm Graz in the InterToto Cup.

Petrov's switch to La Primera looked to be off after Atleti refused to meet Wolfsburg's EUR 10 M evaluation of the Bulgarian international, but after the Spaniards lifted their offer to EUR 9 M he was allowed to speak to them again.

I hope that an agreement will be reached in the next couple of days so that on Wednesday I can announce that I am an Atletico Madrid player, Petrov was cited as saying.
