President Vladimir Putin has sent a telegram to US President George W. Bush with a special message for Independence Day. "We should work hard to promote diverse Russian-U.S. cooperation," Putin wrote in his telegram as quoted by RIA news agency. "The high level of cooperation achieved by our coordinated efforts will allow our countries to counter global threats and challenges, including international terrorism, and expand economic and public contacts." Putin added that the joint celebrations of the 60th anniversary of VE Day in Moscow in May "demonstrated a new quality of Russian-US relations based on partnership and mutual trust and the traditions of our joint fight against a common enemy."
