Pirates have hijacked a United Nations ship carrying aid to tsunami victims. The vessel was sailing from Kenya to Bossaso, Somalia, when it was attacked by armed pirates. The ten-member crew onboard are reported to be safe, but the attackers want a USD 500,000 ransom. "We're urging local leaders and elders to allow the boat to go on with its journey," the spokeswoman of the UN World Food Programme, Rene McGuffin, has said. The International Maritime Board says waters off the Somali coast are among the most dangerous in the world, the BBC reported Thursday.
