A Bulgarian architect has been assigned the building of a new pedestrian bridge in Vienna.

Aneta Bulant-Kamenova has won the European contest for the construction of the "Skywalk" bridge. She competed with some of her most prominent colleagues for the key project, Bulgarian daily Trud reported.

The official opening of the bridge will be held in September 2006. Its limit is EUR 2 M, but Bulant-Kamenova's project adds up to EUR 1.5 M. This way, there will be funds for unexpected expenses, she explained.

In 2003 Bulant-Kamenova won an award for a project on the grassing of a Vienna factory for waste processing.

Urban-planning discussions around the world point that it is getting hard for politicians and architects to control town development, she said with regard to the new trends in Sofia architecture.
