June 25 proved undoubtedly to be a decisive date in the lives of Bulgarians. Politicians, diplomats, journalists, ordinary people-you name them-all bathed in the nation-wide excitement.

For the National Palace of Culture did not only house the Elections 2005 International Press Center but also a loud wedding.

Marriage agitation mounted by the minute. The ones, who smoked nervously on the balcony, waiting for the first exit polls results, enjoyed the sounds of vivid Balkan tunes, which came from the top floor. The more curious of them did not hesitate to look down the railing, to observe the arrival of both ticket leaders and wedding guests.

The journalists in the computer room were not spared from the delicious smell drifting from the restaurant upstairs. Grudgingly sniffing, they bemoaned their cruel fate that allotted them the part of unhappy cold buffet eaters.

Luckily for them, however, it became apparent that the preparations for yet another wedding were under way at the Press Center. Bride and groom unknown, but an engagement nonetheless.

As the ballot drew to an end, one after another, winners and defeated embarked on the exploration of the conditions needed to engage in пїЅ successful act of holy matrimony.

A certain groom-to-be even deigned suggest a threesome. He remained firm in his preference for a right-center-oriented marriage, while finally admitting he would compromise for a left-center deviation, should that prove inevitable.

As speculations proceeded well into the wee hours, the only certain condition for the prosperity of the future act of matrimony that became apparent was the necessity of a highly qualified marriage therapist. A certain rightist political entity had acted smart enough to foresee the occurrence of such requirement. Its spokesman went so far as to actually suggest therapy on the spot, should the need occur.

As theories elaborated, however, the aspiring newly weds seemed to largely leave out a key participant in their marriage. A participant, who, whether he realizes or not, possesses the command to call the wedding off-the Bulgarian people.
