Bulgarian teenager Sesil Karatantcheva was defeated by defending champion Maria Sharapova who continued her bid for her second Wimbledon title.

The Russian scored four aces and 13 winners to take the match 6-0 6-1 in just under 45 minutes. "I know how it feels to lose 0-0, and it's not a good feeling, so I just let the game go," said 18-year-old Sharapova.

Karatantcheva defeated four-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams last month at the French Open and reached the quarterfinals. But the young Bulgarian was unable to pull off another upset against Sharapova.

Bulgaria's Sesil, 15, commented that she wasn't prepared enough for the grass field battle with such a good rival.

Before a 2004 match against Sharapova in Indian Wells, California, Karatantcheva pledged to "kick her (butt) off" because of a perceived slight when they were practicing. She lost that match and the two subsequent matches they've played.

When asked to comment on that Sesil said that she simply says what's on her mind.
