An overwhelming majority of Sofia News Agency Readers have said that Hristo Stoitchkov should stay at his post of national team coach, despite Bulgarian failure to qualify for World Cup 2006 in Germany.

With 202 votes against 145, respondents at this week's poll have supported the best Bulgarian footballer, who have taken on the heavy responsibility to form up a team of largely inexperienced footballers.

Maybe the guy is not a great coach but he is not a bad coach either so he needs more time to build up a better team, a reader wrote in the forum of Sofia News Agency. What makes a good team is fighting spirit, good tactics and technical skills. What the Bulgarian national team lacks is the first and the second qualities, he added.

There were also stances it is better for the national team that Stoitchkov is staying but "going to Olympiakos is a saving grace for his career".

Following the defeat from Croatia, Hristo Stoitchkov has said he will keep the job of Bulgarian head coach at least by 2008. Speculations about Stoitchkov's coaching career were triggered after Croatia crushed Bulgaria's chances for reaching the World Cup finals in the beginning of June.
