The entirely renovated National Youth Theatre is opening doors on Saturday after nearly 20 years staying closed and half-ruined due to insufficient funds to reconstruct the building.

The building - emblematic for Bulgarian theatrical circles - is built in the 1930s and has the status of a cultural monument. It has been under reconstruction for 19 years with several governments making plans to revive just parts of it.

The cost of overall reconstruction project stands at BGN 8.2 M, the press office of the Culture and Tourism Ministry said.

The new building has a big hall of 461 seats and a chamber hall accommodating 100 spectators.

Young actors will dispose of twelve state-of-the-art dressing rooms, a club-restaurant and a bar for the audience.

The stage of the National Youth Theatre has seen more than 560 plays and some of Bulgaria's best actors and actresses.

The official inauguration ceremony was held on Saturday in the presence of Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg.
