NEK TO INVEST BGN 11 M IN GORNA ARDA

The National Electricity Company (NEK) will invest Bulgarian levs (BGN) 11 million in Gorna Arda (Upper Arda) hydro-power cascade, Danail Tafrov, Executive Director of NEK, said. The investments will be utilised in 13 months for the construction of water tunnels and correction of the bed of Arda river. Financing will be extended by state Roads Executive Agency. Bulgaria will export 6 biooion plus kilowatt/hour of electricity in 2001, Tafrov said. First quarter exports to neighbouring countries amounted to 1,950 billion kilowatt/hour. For Turkey the exports were 1,250 billion kilowatt/hour for the first four months of 2001.
