Yukos Tycoon Appeals Imprisonment

The former boss of oil giant Yukos, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, has filed an appeal against the newly-passed sentence of nine years in jail. In May, he was found guilty on six charges of fraud and tax evasion. The trial against Khodorkovsky has been seen by many as politically motivated. Supporters of the former oligarch say that he used his wealth to initiate political change, thus griping Russia's President Vladimir Putin.
