Bulgarian wonder Sesil Karatantcheva has moved up by nearly 50 positions in the WTA ranking of world's women tennis after making a sensation in Paris to reach the quarterfinals of the prestigious tournament.
With a basket of 660.25 points, the 15-aged talent advanced from previous 98th seed to now 51st seed in the ranking and pursed a total of USD 154,109.
Fifteen-year-old Sesil Karatantcheva's bid to become the youngest winner of a Grand Slam title in the modern age suffered a heartbreaking end today when she was knocked out of the French Open.
The Bulgarian, seeking to depose Monica Seles as the youngest ever winner, squandered a perfect start against veteran Russian 16th seed Elena Likhovtseva to go down to a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 quarterfinal defeat.
Making her debut appearance here after winning the junior title in 2004, Karatantcheva managed to blow away former world No. 1 Venus Williams to advance to the quarters.
"I was kind of feeling like I was kind of 10 again," said the young Bulgarian, explaining the emotional swings of playing in the French Open quarterfinals.
