PARLIAMENT VOTED OVER BGN 2 BLN REVENUES IN PENSION FUND

Parliament started debates on State Assistance budget bill for 2002 at second reading on December 13. The budget agreed total BGN 139,640,000. The State Assistance Act provides for a total of BGN 2,115 BLN revenues for the Pension Fund. Expenditures of the same fund are set at BGN 2, 911 M. Parliament approved BGN 800 M deficit. Under the adopted act insurance payments for teachers will be 37%, for workers third category - 32,7%, workers in the second category group - 42,7% and 47,7 for first category bracket. The MPs decided that in case of a temporary shortage of money in the State Assistance funds temporary loans are to be granted from the central budget. No interest rate is to be imposed on them. The Finance Minister will be in charge of the grants. Imported goods for social security projects will be exempt from Value Added Tax, duties and taxes.
