French Open debutant Sesil Karatantcheva could not make up for the nearly double age of her rival Elena Likhovtseva and left the Rolland Garros tournament with a loss 2-6 6-4 6-4 at the quarter final.
Despite the defeat, the teen youngster trained at the famed Bollettieri Academy hit the headlines in Paris after conquering former world No. 1 Venus Williams in the third round.
The exciting newcomer of Bulgaria was trying to become the fourth-youngest semi-finalist here.
Elena Likhovtseva was 3-2 down in the third set when she left centre court to receive treatment after holding her hip.
The 16th seed Likhovtseva who has so far ten participations at the tournament bowed out to compatriot Elena Dementieva two days ago.
The victory of Likhovtseva over the Bulgarian teen made her the second Russian to advance to the French Open semi-finals on Tuesday. Earlier, Russia's Nadia Petrova beat Ana Ivanovic of Serbia and Montenegro 6-2 6-2 to reach the last four.
Likhovtseva recovered from a sluggish start to set up a semi-final against American world number one Lindsay Davenport or France's Mary Pierce.
