The Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone has been arrested on drink-driving and drug charges at a police checkpoint in Beverly Hills.

Officers arrested Stone, 58, at a checkpoint on Sunset Boulevard near the border of Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, a police spokesman said.

Stone, who won best director Oscars for Platoon and Born on the Fourth of July, was released on Saturday morning after posting bail of USD 15,000.

He visited the Film Center Boyana and other places suitable for film shots.
