Bulgaria's young tennis hope Sesil Karatantcheva has put to kneels the 11-seed Venus Williams defeating the four-time Grand Slam title winner 6-3, 1-6, 6-1.
The victory of the 15-aged Bulgarian, to rocket her to the 1/8 final, has become the sensation of the French Open third round running in Paris.
Williams hit just nine winners and committed 52 unforced errors, including seven double faults. She lost serve nine times, including all four service games in the final set.
Ahead of the clash on Friday, Venus Williams had stressed on the younger pretenders' mental superiority compared to her ages years ago.
In turn, Karatantcheva has said that young players travel a lot more than in the past and that gives them all a greater perspective, making them more mature.
Sesil Karatantcheva has stormed through the EUR 13.5 M pursed tournament with two successive triumphs over Alyona Bondarenko of Ukraine and Shinobu Asagoe of Japan in the initial rounds.
Still, the 98th-ranked Bulgarian, who honed her talents with the Bolletieri academy in Florida but spends more time in Sofia now working with her father, has said she is realistic about her ambitions in tennis.
Sesil Karatantcheva won the Roland Garros juniors title last year and earned her first victory in a Grand Slam match earlier this week.
