A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck in waters near the Indonesian city of Banda Aceh, which was hit hard by the massive tsunami-producing earthquake on Dec. 26, Hong Kong seismologists said Sunday. The quake, centered 40 kilometers west-northwest of Banda Aceh, was recorded in Hong Kong at 7:07 a.m., the Hong Kong Observatory said in a statement. Indonesia has been repeatedly rocked by tremors since the December 26 temblor, which killed more than 180,000 people in 11 countries across the Indian Ocean basin, and left about 50,000 missing and hundreds of thousands homeless.
