Ten countries have seen their participants going to the final of Eurovision Song Contest 2005 who will join the rest of 14 contestants, plus Ukraine, on Saturday.

Bulgaria's Kaffe did not earn votes enough to advance for the final battle in Kiev, but still has earmarked the history of the contest with the first ever presentation of the country at the musical festival.

The rivals from Hungary, Romania, Norway, Moldova, Israel, Denmark, Macedonia, Croatia, Switzerland, and Latvia reaped most of the televised votes carried out through phone calls and SMS sending on Thursday night.

They will join performers from 15 other countries who have automatically won slots, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Spain, as Europe's largest states.

Eurovision music festival is one of Europe's major TV events, with more than 150 million people expected to watch the May 21 final.

This year's event held in Kiev, the capital of 2004 winner Ukraine, runs under the solemn half centenary of the festival.

By tradition Eurovision contestants are characterised by the catchy melody of their songs, vivid outfits and energetic stage shows. Many draw heavily on their countries' musical traditions.
