On the occasion of the centennial of the Nobel Prize, Swedish ambassador to Bulgaria Sten Ask, held an inspiring speech at the Sofia University on December 10. In the grand aula of the university Ask spoke at great lengths about the Nobel Prize, its history and its winners. He underscored that the Bulgarian author Iordan Radichkov was nominated for the first time for the Nobel Prize and reiterated that the Swedish Embassy fully supports his candidature. One of the points the ambassador made was the fact that even though Bulgaria hasn't won a Nobel Prize yet, Elias Canetti a 1981 prizewinner was born in the Bulgarian town Russe. "He did have Bulgarian genes", Ask underlined. In his inspired speech the ambassador also expressed his high expectations of the Bulgarian youth. "You are the future and hope of your country. This is a big responsibility, carry it with pride and set yourselves high goals. Bulgaria has a brilliant young generation and I'm convinced that one day Bulgaria will be rewarded the Nobel Prize," Ask said in his address to the Bulgarian young people.
