EC TO REVISE ACCESSION PROCESS SCHEDULE FOR BULGARIA AND ROMANIA

Louis Michel, Belgium’s Foreign Minister announced that the European Commission will prepare a report on the progress made by Bulgaria and Romania. Michel will chair the meeting at the level of ministers which is held in Brussels within the framework of the intergovernmental commission on accession. A revised schedule on the accession process of the two countries will be prepared on the basis of the report. The new schedule does not mean that Romania and Bulgaria will be acceded with the first wave, Louis Michel, Belgium’s Foreign Minister commented. The Financial Control chapter of the acquis communautaire is expected to be closed at the meeting of the foreign ministers of EU and Bulgaria in Brussels on December 11. The Bulgarian delegation is headed by Foreign Minister Passy.
