The Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov met Friday the prominent film director Oliver Stone, who arrived in the country to search for possible movie shooting spots.

Parvanov and Stone shared opinions on the problems and historic events, emblematic for the director's films.

They also discussed the Bulgarian historical heritage and the possible film plots which could be drawn from the country's history.

In Bulgaria there are conditions for revival of the film making, Oliver Stone said. This could happen not necessarily with large investments but also by using digital and other modern technologies in combination with good ideas.

During his stay in Bulgaria Oliver Stone is to visit the Film Center Boyana, as well as other places, in which the famous director, screen-writer and producer is interested. He will probe into the possibilities to shot in the country.

Oliver Stone has become one of the best known filmmakers working in Hollywood, making his name and fortune from political subjects like the Vietnam War, the Kennedy assassination, and the US involvement in El Salvador.

Oliver Stone is one of a handful of true artists left in modern cinema who will almost always place a greater importance on the craft rather than economic considerations. He has written, directed, and produced such popular and sometimes controversial masterpieces as Any Given Sunday, Nixon, Heaven & Earth, and Born on the Fourth of July. He has also written and directed Platoon, JFK, Salvador, Natural Born Killers, The Doors, Wall Street, and Talk Radio.

Some of the films, directed by the three-times Oscar winning director include Salvador, Born on Fourth of July, JFK, The People vs. Larry Flint, Any Given Sunday, Comandante.

Stone's last film is Alexander, dedicated to the life of Alexander the Great.
