A 13-year-old Bulgarian boy has won the European children's painting contest organized by the United Nations (UN).

Iskren Petrov from the town of Sliven had presented a Noah's Ark theme as a call for saving life in polluted urban areas.

Petrov was competing with young artists from all over Europe, who had submitted more than 3,500 pictures.

The motto of the environment-protection contest was "Green City."

Its international final will take place next month in San Francisco.

Meanwhile, the Bulgarian Environment Ministry is considering the possibility to include the talented boy's work in printed material for the June 5 World Environment Day.
