Czech Prime Minister Stanislav Gross officially resigned from the post on Monday, to be replaced by Local Development Minister Jiri Paroubek. The move came after a longstanding political crisis that was triggered by an apartment scandal. It broke out over questions of how Stanislav Gross paid for the luxury place. At first the Premier said he paid for it with his own money and a mortgage. Then Gross said he had borrowed money from his uncle.
