Greece Ambitious to Reach European IT Peak

Greece has all the potential to enter the European IT elite by the end of 2010, experts from the sector said at a Roundtable organized in Athens.

"Greece can set as a goal to be among the top-ten European countries in ICT capability, innovation and competitiveness by 2010", stated the Greek Intracom CEO George Deligiannis at the 9th Roundtable with the Greek Government, organized by Economist Conferences.

Deligiannis pointed out that the responsibility for achieving this goal must be shared by Greek public sector and business leadership. An innovation-friendly climate should be created through tax incentives, efficient administration and capital availability.

The responsibility of the business leadership of the country, according to Deligiannis, is to demonstrate the commitment and the ability to invest in technology intensive projects and compete in technology intensive markets that go beyond Greek boundaries.

Intracom is the largest provider of telecommunications, information and electronic systems in South Eastern Europe, which exports in more than 60 countries around the world.
