Collapse Threatens Berlusconi Govt

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi called a confidence vote Tuesday, but his government is facing collapse after a key ally threatened to flee the ruling coalition. The National Alliance (AN) will make a final decision after Berlusconi addresses Parliament on Wednesday, the party's leader Gianfranco Fini said. The vote is scheduled to take place on April 21. The AN is the second largest party in Italy's ruling coalition, and its departure would bring down the government.
