The sky over Sofia will be illuminated Tuesday evening as a part of the international initiative "Physics Enlightens the World".

Between 9 and 10 pm four lasers will illuminate the sky above Bulgaria's capital.

The world-wide relay of light, which will go through 39 countries, is dedicated to the World Year of Physics, 2005.

The initiative starts in Princeton, the United States to end in the United Kingdom. It aims to unite all nations by the enlightening power of physics.

In Sofia the lasers will be switched on in the building of the Electronics Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, situated on Tsarigradsko Shose Blvd.

One of the beams will be directed to the St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, two other beams will be directed vertically to satellites, and the fourth one will be directed towards Vitosha mountain.
