Bulgarians Grab Two European Sambo Titles

Bulgarians Ivan Iliev (up to 100 kilograms) and Elitsa Ruzheva (up to 56 kilograms) won gold medals at the 2005 European sambo championship at Moscow's Luzhniki stadium.

Sambo (an acronym of the Russian phrase "self-defense without weapons") is a kind of wrestling created in the former Soviet Union that integrated the most effective wrestling techniques from a multitude of ethnic wrestling styles practiced throughout the country, Russian News and Information agency RIA Novosti specifies.

Currently the International Sambo Federation comprises 42 countries.
