“Sofia is the capital of a country of great importance in such a tender spot as the Balkans, “ Slobodan Casule, Macedonia’s new Foreign Minister, said on the Bulgarian National Radio on December 7 in his first interview for the Bulgarian media.

As a EU and NATO applicant state Bulgaria has additional responsibilities, he said in answer to the question how he sees Sofia's role in solving the crisis in the Southern Balkans.

Minister Casule expressed the hope that if the current trends in Bulgaria continue the country will manage to accomplish its goals. "And what I say for my country, I also say for Bulgaria: the solution, the ball, as it were, is with us and we must do our best for the well-being of our citizens. According to Casule the most irrational disagreement between Bulgaria and Macedonia is the language dispute.
