US brain-damaged patient Terri Schiavo died Thursday, on the 13th day since her feeding tube was removed. The news was published by parents Bob and Mary Schindler. Suspending Terri's artificial life support was requested by husband Michael. The woman's parents fought a lengthy court battle to keep her alive, but their plea was rejected by several courts. Michael Schiavo had said his wife would not have wanted to live in a vegetative state. Terri Schiavo collapsed at her Florida home in 1990. Her heart stopped beating temporarily and oxygen was cut off to the brain. Eight years later, her husband filed a petition for the removal of Terri's feeding tube. It was actually disconnected on April 24, 2001 and reinstated two days later.
