UNEMPLOYMENT UP TO 18.51 PERCENT

The unemployment rate in Bulgaria was 18.51 percent in April, up compared month-on-month, the National Employment Service (NES) reported. The unemployed numbered 707,793 in April while in March redundant were 704,691, NES specified. Highest was the unemployment rate in the town of Tirgovishte (Northeast Bulgaria) – 33.62 percent. The programs for temporary employment, subsidized by the Cabinet with Bulgarian levs (BGN) 15 million in November, have been already finalized. Under the programs some 54,000 temporary jobs were opened.
