24-Hour Strike Paralyses Greece

A wave of strikes by workers in various sectors paralyzed the country on Thursday. The Greek trade unions demand better social guarantees for the workers and rise of salaries. Banks, post offices and utilities staff, as well as Olympic Airlines and the Hellenic Railway Organization stage 24-hour strikes. Civil servants and public transport staff also staged a four-hour work cease.
