A record number of protesters have reportedly flocked to Beirut's Martyrs' Square on an opposition rally. Nearly one million people gathered at the site to protest against the continuing presence of Syrian forces in Lebanon, world media reported. That figure makes the move the biggest protest in the Lebanese history. A month ago, former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri was killed in a car bomb attack near the same square. At the exact time of the blast, Monday's demonstrators fell silent to commemorate Hariri.
