Top seed Lindsay Davenport cruised through the second round against Sesil Karatantcheva, beating the Bulgarian in straight sets 6-3 6-2.

Davenport had little trouble against her young Bulgarian counterpart, dropping three games in the first set before going on to win the match at the Pacific Life Open of Indian Wells.

Karatantcheva earned the Davenport tie beating Marlene Weingartner in the opening round at Indian Wells.

The 15-aged Bulgarian talent made her first breakthrough at Indian Wells last year where she outstood Alexandra Stevenson of US and Maggie Serna of Spain before losing to Russia's Maria Sharapova. This year Sesil played for the purse of USD 2.1 M with a wild card.

It has been a situation similar to last year, when then 14-year-old Karatantcheva made her WTA Tour debut by reaching the third round against Maria Sharapova and threatened to "kick her butt off" because of a perceived slight during training in Florida.

The Bulgarian is seeded 89th in the WTA ranking, but has gained 16 points cruising to the second round of Pacific Life Open.
