The Italian journalist that was held hostage in Iraq has safely arrived back home on Saturday. Giuliana Sgrena was looking tired and weak as she stepped off the plane to be taken to a military hospital, world media reported. The woman will possibly undergo shoulder surgery. The Il Manifesto journalist was abducted in Iraq about a month ago. Shortly after the woman's release, US forces shot at the car that was carrying Sgrena and wounded her. The US military said the car was speeding as it approached a coalition checkpoint in western Baghdad on its way to the airport. It said soldiers shot into the engine block only after trying to warn the driver to stop by hand and arm signals, flashing white lights and firing warning shots.
