Bulgaria's Central Bank introduced Wednesday a vivid coin dedicated to the Baba Marta spring holiday. All of the pieces have been coloured by hand - a rare method that makes the coins especially attractive.

The Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) has minted a series of coins dedicated to traditional Bulgarian holidays. The Baba Marta collection comes prior to the March 1 festival, which to many Bulgarians marks the beginning of spring season. Snow white and flamboyant red are the symbol colours of the holiday, featured as well on the BNB coin.

Other colourful series put out by the bank were Christmas-mood "Survakari", the beautiful "Tsvetnitsa" and the touching "Detstvo Moe" ("My Childhood").
