Bulgarian national team defender Ilian Stoyanov has been arrested in his hometown, apparently drunken while driving his car, a newspaper said Wednesday.
Stoyanov was recently sold by his club Levski to Japan's Jeff United, and is scheduled to fly to the Asian country in days.
Media said that police in Kyustendil, some 80km southwest of capital Sofia, seized the footballer last weekend. His car was jammed into a snow drift, and the apparently tipsy player was behaving aggressively towards police officers, 7 Dni Sport wrote.
According to the sports paper, Stoyanov refused to undergo testing and said that he had no ID papers with him.
The defender is leaving Levski after he refused to countersign his contract with the club, and started a squabble with the management.
