Bulgaria's Football Union has dismissed press officer Atanas Karaivanov, it emerged on Monday.
The decision came after a quarrel with Ivan Zhechev, the chief of the Union's Judicial Committee.
Karaivanov told Sofia-based Darik radio that he was surprised by the news.
It was the chief of the Football Union, Ivan Slavkov, who ordered Karaivanov's dismissal, despite the two being good friends.
"Slavkov does not easily part with people who have been faithful, so I did not expect to be fired," Karaivanov said Monday.
