A militant group in Iraq says it will release an Italian woman journalist who was kidnapped last week. Giuliana Sgrena was seized by gunmen in Baghdad while interviewing people in the street. The group said it was now convinced that she was not a spy. The Organisation of Islamic Jihad said in a statement on a website that the 56-year-old reporter was "not a spy and will be released". The statements said it had "become absolutely clear that the Italian prisoner is not involved in espionage for the infidels in Iraq". The group kidnapped her on Friday and said it would kill her unless the "crminal government" in Rome withdrew some of its 3,000 troops from Iraq by Monday.
