Britain said that ten military personnel died in the crash of a military transport plane in Iraq on Sunday. In a press statement British Defense Secretary Geoff Hoon said nine Royal Air Force personnel and one soldier were missing believed dead following the crash of the RAF C-130 Hercules northwest of Baghdad. Ansar al-Islam, an Al-Qaeda linked extremist group, posted a statement on an Islamist website claiming it downed the plane, causing Britain's biggest single loss since the Iraqi war. Later on Monday Arabic TV station Al-Jazeera aired a videotape purporting to show insurgents firing a missile that downed a British transport plane in Iraq. The broadcaster said it had received a copy of the tape from the 1920 Revolution Brigades, a group that claimed responsibility for some attacks and kidnappings in the past.
