A fresh monthly format entered the Bulgarian press market Monday, combining sport and lifestyle themes.

The Slavy Magazine is published by rhythmic gymnastic legend Iliana Raeva, and has the ambition to shoot Bulgaria's sport talents into true stardom.

"I think that athletes are the real celebrities in Bulgaria. My magazine will aim to put sport and sportspersons on a pedestal," Raeva said in a special message.

The first cover of Slavy Magazine features the national football team's coach Hristo Stoitchkov as a bon vivant in an old-style location. Articles about young tennis star Sesil Karatantcheva, swimming champion Petar Stoytchev and Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) President Ivan Slavkov are also included in the first issue.

The magazine comes with a circulation of 15, 000, and all of the texts are written by Bulgarian journalists.
